Borrowing

Amounts, products, what fits what

01How much can I borrow with FrontPay?
From $200 to $5,000. Short-term loans run $200–$1,500, installment loans $500–$5,000 and personal loans $2,000–$5,000. Your offer depends on income, bank history and your state's ceiling. Browse by amount
02What's the difference between the three loan types?
Length and price. A short-term loan is 14–90 days for small bills; an installment loan is 3–24 fixed monthly payments for most bills over $500; a personal loan is the same structure at lower APRs for $2,000+ with fair-or-better credit.
03Can I choose which type I get?
You choose the amount and term; the product follows. Request $800 over 60 days and you'll see short-term offers; $2,500 over 12 months brings installment offers; $3,000 over 24 months with good credit brings personal-loan pricing.
04Can I borrow $200?
Yes, as a short-term loan in states that allow them. Under about $150, a cash advance app is usually cheaper than any loan; we say so on the use-cases section of the home page.
05Can I have two loans at once?
One loan at a time with each lender. Some lenders offer a second once the first is at least half repaid. Stacking loans from different lenders is something every lender in our network has pledged not to enable.
06What can I use the loan for?
Anything legal: a repair, a medical bill, a move, consolidating cards. Lenders don't ask for receipts. The exceptions are tuition, a business, or gambling, which some lenders exclude.
07Is FrontPay a lender?
No. FrontPay USA is a loan-connection service: your request goes to state-licensed lenders in our network, and the lender you choose issues, funds and collects the loan. The lender's name is on every offer. How to verify us

Cost

APR, fees, examples

08What does a FrontPay loan cost?
A fixed APR for the whole term, shown on your offer before you sign, and nothing to apply. Personal loans 5.99%–35.99%; installment 29.99%–149% depending on credit and state; short-term loans $10–$15 per $100 per 30 days. Every range
09Is there a fee to apply?
No. FrontPay is paid by the lender whose loan you accept. You pay nothing to apply, see offers, decline, or ask questions.
10Is there an origination fee?
Some lenders charge 1%–5%, deducted at funding or added to the balance; many charge none. If there is one, it's inside the APR and listed as its own line on the offer.
11Is there a prepayment penalty?
Never, with any lender in our network. Pay extra or pay off early and interest stops on what you've paid.
12What's the representative example?
$2,500 installment loan over 12 months at 35.99% APR: $251.14 a month, $3,013.71 total repaid, $513.71 cost of borrowing. Typical for fair credit; your offer may be higher or lower.
13What is APR and why does it matter more than the rate?
APR folds required fees into the yearly cost, so it's the number that lets you compare two offers honestly. Compare APR to APR, never rate to APR.
14Why would my APR be higher than someone else's?
Credit history, income relative to existing debt, the product and term you chose, and your state's cap. Two neighbors with different bank histories can see different offers for the same amount.
15Are there late fees?
Only if a payment fails: typically $15–$30 or a small percentage, capped by your state and printed on the contract. Call the lender before the date and most will move it with no fee.

Eligibility

Credit, income, bank account

16Does FrontPay check my credit?
Seeing offers is a soft inquiry, which never affects your score. Only when you accept an offer may that lender run a hard inquiry. There's no minimum score to apply.
17Can I get a loan with bad credit?
Yes. Lenders approve on income and bank history; scores in the 500s are common among approved borrowers. Expect an APR at the higher end of the range. Bad credit loans
18Do I need direct deposit?
No. Paper checks, cash deposits, gig payouts, benefits and pensions all count as long as they're regular. Details
19What income do I need?
Regular income of roughly $1,000 a month or more from any source. Lenders read 90 days of deposits in your checking account rather than pay stubs. Full requirements
20Do I need a bank account?
Yes, an active checking account in your name. Online banks like Chime work; prepaid cards and savings-only accounts don't. Chime users
21Can I apply on SSI, SSDI or a pension?
Yes. Benefit and pension income is regular income. Some lenders set a lower maximum for benefit-only applicants. More
22I'm self-employed or a gig worker. Can I qualify?
Yes. Deposits are what count: platform payouts, paid invoices, cash you deposit. No tax returns for most applicants. More
23Does a bankruptcy or collections disqualify me?
A discharged bankruptcy doesn't; an active one does until discharge. Collections alone don't disqualify you; a pattern of returned payments in the last 30 days usually does.
24Do I need to be a citizen?
No. You need to be a U.S. resident with a U.S. address, a U.S. checking account and an SSN or ITIN.

Getting funded

Timing, process, what to expect

25How fast can I get the money?
Most approved requests are funded by direct deposit the next business day. Some lenders fund the same day when you sign before noon Central. Weekends and bank holidays add a day. Same-day loans
26How long does the application take?
About three minutes to request, under a minute for the soft check, then as long as you like to read the offer. The four steps
27Do I need to upload documents?
Most people don't. Linking your checking account verifies income and history electronically. A lender may ask for a pay stub or benefit letter if the check is inconclusive.
28How many offers will I see?
Every lender in your state that can lend to you returns one. Often two or three; sometimes one. You see them side by side with the same four numbers on each.
29What if I'm not approved?
You're told, nothing is reported, and nothing is opened. You can reapply after 30 days; a cleaner month of bank history is the usual fix.
30How long is an offer valid?
Usually seven days. The expiry is on the offer. Let it lapse and you can request again.
31Can I get the money on a prepaid card or by check?
No. Funding is by direct deposit to the checking account you linked, which is also where payments pull from.

Repaying

Payments, early payoff, trouble

32Who do I pay, FrontPay or the lender?
The lender. Payments pull automatically from your checking account on your pay date. The lender's name and contact are on your contract. Who to call for what
33When is the first payment?
Your next pay date that falls at least 10 days after funding. The date is on the offer, and the lender can move it if your pay date changes.
34Can I pay off early?
Any time, with no penalty. Interest is charged on the remaining balance, so early payments save the most early on. See the schedule
35Can I change my payment date?
Yes, by contacting the lender before the current date. Most allow it once per cycle at no charge.
36What if I can't make a payment?
Call the lender before the due date. Every lender in our network signs a responsible lending pledge that includes a hardship option. Never take a second loan to pay the first.
37Does the loan build credit?
Most installment and personal-loan lenders report every payment to Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. On-time payments help; late ones hurt. Short-term loans are rarely reported. How it works
38What happens if a payment bounces?
The lender may charge a returned-payment fee (capped by state), your bank may charge an NSF fee, and the lender will retry or contact you. Tell them in advance and most will pause the pull.

About FrontPay

Who we are, the other FrontPays

39Is FrontPay USA the same as the $100 FrontPay cash advance?
No. The $100 cash advance is a separate membership service at joinfrontpay.com, owned by Populus Financial Group. FrontPay USA (this site) is not affiliated with it and doesn't offer cash advances. How that product works
40Is there a FrontPay app?
We don't have one; everything works in the browser. The "FrontPay" app in the App Store is a payments app from a different company in another country and has nothing to do with loans. Details
41How does FrontPay make money?
A referral fee from the lender whose loan you accept, paid by the lender, never by you. We don't sell applications to lead brokers and we don't charge membership.
42Is FrontPay legit?
We think so, and we'd rather you check than take our word: the lender on your offer is licensed in your state and searchable on NMLS Consumer Access, our fees are zero, and our disclosures are public. How to verify every claim on this site
43How do I cancel the $9.99 FrontPay membership?
That's joinfrontpay.com, not us, but people ask us constantly so we wrote it up: email their support, repay any open advance first, and keep the confirmation. Step by step
44How do I contact FrontPay?
Email [email protected], Mon–Fri 8 AM–8 PM and Sat 9 AM–3 PM Central. We reply within one business day. Payment questions after funding go to your lender. Customer service

Safety & privacy

Scams, data, your rights

45Will anyone ask me to pay a fee to get my loan?
No. Advance-fee requests are fraud, full stop. Lenders deduct any fee from the loan or put it in the APR; they never ask you to send money first. Scam alerts
46Who sees my application?
Lenders in our network licensed in your state, so they can make you an offer, and nobody else. We don't sell applications to lead brokers. Privacy policy
47Is my bank login stored?
No. Account linking runs through a bank-data provider that returns read-only transaction history to the lender; your login isn't stored by FrontPay or the lender.
48Can I opt out of data sharing?
Yes. Do not sell or share my information covers marketing uses. Sharing needed to make you an offer or service your loan continues.
49Is a soft inquiry visible to other lenders?
No. Soft inquiries appear only to you on your own report and never affect your score.
50Where do I complain if something goes wrong?
Start with us at [email protected] or the lender's contact on your contract. If that doesn't resolve it, the CFPB complaint portal and your state regulator both take complaints about any lender.

Nothing matches that word. Try a shorter one, or email us the question; if it's a good one it ends up on this page.
